The 25-year-old finished fourth in the 2016 race and was the white jersey winner for the best young rider.
He will be the team's only general classification rider at next year's Tour.
The Bury-born cyclist said: "It feels good to be going back to the Tour de France and I am very excited about the challenges it will bring.
"The Tour will always be a special race for me having watched it growing up through to getting the opportunity to race it for the first time in 2015."
Simon Yates, Adam's twin brother, will double-up and focus on the Giro d'Italia and La Vuelta Espana along with Colombian Esteban Chaves.
