HOULE: I DID IT FOR MY BROTHER
"I’ve never won a race before so I guess it’s the right place to win my first race. When I attacked it was basically to set the tempo for Michael Woods, and when I saw that they let me go and Mike had left a gap, I just went all in – full gas. I hung on and was suffering so badly on the steep climb. But I knew that if I had a gap of 30 or 40 seconds over the top, I could do it. It was tight but I never gave up and gained some time in the technical section. I was afraid of getting cramp and I was missing some food. I had one dream and that was to get the win for my brother, who died when I turned professional. Today it’s for him. I worked so hard for 10 years and today I got my win for him – it’s incredible, I don’t know what to say, I’m so happy."

VLASOV THE BIG WINNER ON GC - UP TO EIGHTH
The Russian came sixth today at 1'40" and that sees him rise three places to seventh in the general classification. Bardet has actually dropped to ninth after losing all that time. Here's the new-look top 10:
1. Jonas Vingegaard
2. Tadej Pogacar +2'22
3. Geraint Thomas +2'43
4. Nairo Quintana +4'15
5. David Gaudu +4'24
6. Adam Yates +5'28
7. Louis Meintjes +5'46
8. Aleksandr Vlasov +6'18
9. Romain Bardet +6'37
10. Tom Pidcock +10'11

VAN AERT LEADS YELLOW JERSEY GROUP HOME
So there'll be no change in the top three after Jonas Vingegaard, Tadej Pogacar and Geraint Thomas all cross the line together just over six minutes down. Adam Yates and Tom Pidcock cross the line over a minute back but Yates may stay fifth because Romain Bardet will trade his fourth place with sixth place Quintana, who finished with the big favourites after a solid ride today.
Yes, Bardet comes home around four minutes down on the yellow jersey group after his troubled afternoon.

IT'S A ONE-THREE FOR ISRAEL-PREMIER TECH AND CANADA
In the end, Michael Woods couldn't make it a one-two with Valentin Madouas catching the chasers before the line before outsprinting Woods for second place. Matteo Jorgenson takes fourth place for Movistar following his earlier crash. Michael Storer then comes home for fifth.

VICTORY FOR HOULE, WHO POINTS TO THE STARS
What a win there from Canada's Hugo Houle, who fought back on the descent of the penultimate climb before riding clear to victory on the Mur de Peguere. Talk about a perfect moment to land your first ever pro win...

2KM TO GO: FIRST NORTH AMERICAN ONE-TWO-THREE ON THE TOUR
If it stays like this it would be the first time in Tour history that riders from North America take the top three positions of a stage. What a win this will be for Hugo Houle, who I've just learned from Rob Hatch's commentary lost his brother, Pierrick, a decade ago after he was killed by a drink driver while out training on his bike.

5KM TO GO: A SECOND STAGE WIN FOR ISRAEL-PREMIER TECH
After Simon Clarke's win on the cobblestones of northern France, Houle will give his team a second win on this Tour. His advantage is up to one minute now. We haven't seen many images of the yellow jersey group but it appears that they are still riding together ad one so there will be no change for the podium positions - but Yates may lose his place in the top five, ditto Bardet.
15:57
7KM TO GO: JORGENSON CATCHES WOODS
The one-two may not be guaranteed but Houle should see this one out now because Woods is sandbagging the bloodied Jorgenson, who rode back into contention but is 50 seconds back now... It's more likely that Groupama teammates Storer and Madouas will catch the chasing duo than that duo catching the lone leader.

10KM TO GO: CANADIAN ONE-TWO INCOMING...
Barring a disaster it should be a one-two for Israel-Premier Tech's Canadian duo, Hugo Houle and Michael Woods. Houle has 40 seconds on his teammate who in turn has 10 seconds on Matteo Jorgenson following the American's crash.

13KM TO GO: JORGENSON HITS THE DECK
Israel-Premier Tech now have it in the bag because Matteo Jorgenson has crashed while trying to close the gap. The American loses his front wheel and so it's just Houle ahead of Woods now... will we see the latter battle the former for the win? Or will they both ease up a little to ensure one of them takes home the goods?

15KM TO GO: HOULE STILL GOING STRONG
The Canadian came close to a maiden Grand Tour stage win last week when he was pipped by Mads Pedersen and Fred Wright in Stage 13 to Saint-Etienne. Today he has a great chance of Canada's first stage win on the Tour since Steve Bauer's in 1988. And if he can't then teammate and compatriot Michael Woods could: he's still with Matteo Jorgenson around 30 seconds down. Madouas and Storer are another 45 seconds back.

20KM TO GO: THOMAS BATTLES BACK ON, JOINS MARTINEZ
Now that's why you send someone like Dani Martinez into the break... Geraint Thomas has closed the gap on the yellow-white jersey group and has been joined by his Colombian teammate after he sat up from the breakaway. To be fair, McNulty and Van Aert, too, have done the same thing for Pogacar and Vingegaard, so all the big GC favourites have reinforcements with them for this descent.

25KM TO GO: THOMAS DIGS IN, YATES DROPPED
The two Ineos riders have parted company with the Welshman riding on in pursuit of the other two riders above him on the podium positions. Talking of which, Nairo Quintana is having a great ride and will move about Bardet and into third today - could he push Thomas for that third spot on the podium this week? Gaudu, meanwhile, rides with Yates. Kuss leads this quartet as they near the summit ahead of what will be a decisive descent.
Here were those attacks from Pogacar from earlier on the Port de Lers...

27KM TO GO: HOULE OVER THE TOP WITH 25-SECOND LEAD
The Canadian has a decent gap over Jorgenson and Woods. The rest of the survivors of the break come over in drips and drabs - including Geschke, who will pocket some more polka dot points - but both McNulty and Van Aert sit up over the summit as they wait for their teammates Pogacar and Vingegaard.

28KM TO GO: MECHANICAL FOR MAJKA
Terrible luck for the Pole and his teammate Pogacar! Majka snaps a chain or something like that because he comes to a standstill on the front, just managing to swing to the left to avoid taking out the white and yellow jerseys. He's on the radio straight away and calling for a new bike. That could have been carnage. Yates, Thomas and Gaudu, having clawed their way back, have now been dropped again. So it's Pogacar, Vingegaard, Kuss and Quintana together...
15:34
28KM TO GO: 2 VS 2 (VS 2) VS QUINTANA
Majka doing some severe damage here for Pogacar but Vingegaard still has Kuss here while Thomas and Yates are not far behind. Nairo Quintana is the only rider without a teammate - although David Gaudu, too, is battling back. On the front, Houle has 30 seconds over a chasing duo of his teammate Woods and Movistar's Jorgenson.

29KM TO GO: FAVOURITES ONTO THE STEEP SECTION, MAJKA DROPS THE BOMB
Almost instantly, Rafal Majka comes to the front to set the tempo for his teammate Pogacar, instantly dropping those Movistar riders who were going the honours. And there's instant damage as Pidcock, Bardet, Meintjes, Gaudu, Mas and a whole host of riders go backwards. Thomas is digging in with Yates but they're pedalling squares here while Quintana just about holds on.
