Fernando Gaviria suffered a nasty fall with 4km left of the first stage of the Tour of Turkey that places doubts over his fitness for the rest of the race.
The Quick-Step floors rider was left clutching his collarbone in some pain after going to the deck among a packed bunch after a clash of wheels.
The Colombian sprinter managed to get back on his bike to finish the stage riding with one hand on the bike, but must be rated a doubt for the rest of the six-day event which finishes in Istanbul on Sunday.
Gaviria's team-mate Maximiliano Richeze went on to win the stage with a brilliant sprint from around 600 metres out.
“The plan was to go for the sprint with Fernando, but unfortunately he crashed and we had to quickly change our tactics so Alvaro would be the last man of our sprint train," said Richeze after with the race.
"In the last corner, Alvaro lost my wheel as he had to straighten his line in order not to crash, which meant I took a gap of 30 meters and went with all I had without looking back.”
Ireland's Sam Bennnett (Bora-Hansgrohe) finished second with Jean-Pierre Drucker (BMC Racing) in third.
