Czech rider Roman Kreuziger overhauled Tunisian Rafaa Chtioui in a two-up sprint Saturday, scoring gold in the junior men's road race at the Verona, Italy hosted World Championships. Slovenia's Simon Spilak brought in the bronze.

In a mad-capped nine-lap, 137.75-km race, the junior men's field rode accordion tactics, continuously stretched by a flurry of attacks.
The deciding move, however, didn't come until the final trip up the Torricelle climb, a short-but-taxing 3.1 km climb and the main obstacle on the Verona course.
Czech rider Kreuziger launched the hostilities, pulling free with just Tunisia's Chtioui able to cling to his wheel.
The duo traded perfect turns until 300 metres from the line, when Kreuziger flew free in the sprint to seal his rainbow-jersey performance.
