Michael Unterbuchner produced a stunning comeback to reach the Lakeside semi-finals for the second straight year after beating Willem Mandigers 5-4.

The German found himself trailing 3-1 and then 4-3 in the best-of-nine quarter-final, but held his serve in the deciding set with finishes from 51 and 107.

The fifth seed faces Scott Waites in the last four following his 5-3 win over Conan Whitehead.

Waites was level with Whitehead at 2-2, but stole clear with the next two sets, holding his nerve after his opponent reduced the deificit to complete the win.

"The nerves were trembling a little bit," said Waites. "When it counted, I think I hit the important doubles.

"You keep talking about the top eight players and I'm outside the top eight (but) I'm still one of the top players in the BDO, and it shows."

Meanwhile, reigning champions Glen Durrant eased into the semis with a 5-2 win over Kyle McKinstry.

Durrant raced into a 4-1 lead after losing the opening set and never looked back.

In the women's draw, Japan’s Mikuru Suzuki beat Maria O'Brien 2-0 to reach the final.

Suzuki is playing the event of the first time in her career, and she will meet Lorraine Winstanley, who recovered from a set down to beat Anastasia Dobromyslova 2-1.

Jim Williams reached a first Lakeside semi-final after beating Scott Mitchell 5-3 in the late match.
