The city famous for its Kreuzberg district, the Brandenburg Gate and Alexanderplatz will host for the second time a LGCT event. After a short break in the circuit, some of the best riders on the planet have a rendezvous from Friday, July 27.
The line-up will be particularly fine for this competition, the first four riders of the LGCT ranking having made the trip. Spectators will get to see Ben Maher (Winning Good), the Australian Edwina Tops-Alexander (California), Harrie Smolders (Emerald, Zinius) and Alberto Zorzi (Fair Light van T Heike, Viceversa de la Roque). The Germans will also come with serious ambitions. Just like Marcus Ehning, the recent winner of the Aachen Grand Prix, who will be there with his talented Comme il faut. His countrymen Christian Ahlmann (Caribis Z), Daniel Deusser (Calisto Blue, Cassini Bay) and Ludger Beerbaum (Casello, Cool Down) will also be looking to perform in front of the home crowd.
In addition to Ben Maher for Great Britain, Michael Whitaker will also compete with his two horses El Wee Widge and Valmy de la Lande. Ireland can rely on an armada of five riders, among which Bertram Allen and his superb Molly Malone V, as well as Denis Lynch with Caruso and RMF Bella Baloubet. Both will seek points to qualify for the LGCT final in Doha.
This week’s competition will feature both Individual Tour and Global Champions League Team classes, which will culminate on Saturday with the LGCT Grand Prix of Berlin. The live stream is here.
