Hubert Ptaszek took determination to another level in the FIA European Rally Championship, finishing Leg One of the Cyprus Rally despite rolling his car on Saturday afternoon.
ERC Junior Under 28 regular Ptaszek endured a tough opening leg on the Cyprus Rally, starting his day with a right rear puncture before overshooting a jump and ending up off-road before midday service.

Ptaszek’s TRT Krezus Rally Team-prepared ŠKODA Fabia R5 was then pushed to its limit on Saturday afternoon, rolling over midway through SS5.

Despite that roll, Ptaszek recovered his Fabia and completed Leg One, albeit nearly 10 minutes behind rally leader Juuso Nordgren.

“It was possible to continue but it took a lot of time to get back on the road,” Ptaszek explained.

In spite of his earlier puncture and overshoot, Ptaszek had been running a solid eighth, 1m34.9s behind then-leader Nasser Al-Attiyah.
