Bruno Magalhães says pushing from start to finish is key to winning the Azores Rallye, a feat he has achieved on three occasions.
Team Hyundai Portugal’s star recruit for 2019 is aiming for more FIA European Rally Championship success on the challenging island contest, his first ERC appearance in a Hyundai i20 R5 following two seasons competing in a ŠKODA Fabia R5.

“To get the victory in Azores you have to be fast from the first metre, it’s a sprint rally and if you lose 20s with an issue it can be impossible to recover this time,” the Lisbon-based ace explained.

Magalhães is part of Azores Rallye folklore following his dramatic final-stage triumph in 2010 and his unexpected success in 2017 (pictured). He can’t wait to return in 2019.

“You have the amazing and beautiful landscape,” he said. “It’s not easy to find another place like this in the world. The stages are very specific, very challenging. The weather can change very quickly, that is also part of the challenge.”
