Simon Wagner can’t wait for this week’s Rally di Roma Capitale – because he reckons the stages are similar to those in Czech Republic and his native Austria where he does the bulk of his competing.
Wagner was fighting for an FIA ERC Junior Under 27 Championship podium in the Azores before finishing third in class in Gran Canaria. He believes he can perform even better on the all-asphalt event in Italy, which he’ll contest in a Saintéloc Junior Team PEUGEOT 208 R2 alongside co-driver Gerald Winter.
“Our feelings are quite mixed after the first two rounds with two very untypical rallies for us, fighting for the podium on the Azores but having to retire and then finishing third in Canarias where we were too slow to fight for the win,” said the Pirelli-equipped driver. “The stages in Roma should be a lot more similar to what I’m used to from the last few years competing in Austria and Czech Republic. I am really hoping for a better result this time and will try to give my absolute best just like my co-driver Gerry and of course everyone at Saintéloc.”
