Łukasz Habaj has got his 2019 season off to a flying start with a podium finish on the Latvian championship-counting Rally Alūksne.
The former Polish champion and FIA European Rally Championship regular finished third on the winter event last weekend in a Sports Racing Technologies ŠKODA Fabia R5. Co-driven by fellow Pole Daniel Dymurski, Habaj set top-three times on nine of the 10 stages.
And there was more success by drivers with ERC event experience: Oliver Solberg claimed a fine outright victory in an SRT Volkswagen Polo GTI R5, Tomasz Kasperczyk finished fifth in his Tiger Energy Drink Rally Team Ford Fiesta R5, while ERC Junior Under 27 champion Mārtiņš Sesks won the LRC3 division in P11 overall, the Latvian teen’s first event with new co-driver Krišjanis Caune.
