MOL Racing Team’s Norbert Herczig will lead the FIA European Rally Championship field to the finish line of PZM Rally Poland, running first on the road during leg two.
Leg one’s top 10 runners are reversed for Sunday’s stages, putting 10th placed Herczig out front to sweep loose gravel away.
ERC Junior Under 28 pairing Tomasz Kasperczyk (Tiger Energy Drink Rally Team) and Filip Mareš (ACCR Czech Rally Team) resume their battle over fifth in class by running second and third respectively.
Łukasz Habaj (eSky Rally Team) and Grzegorz Grzyb (Rufa Sport) will set about catching the mightily impressive ERC Junior U28 debutant Miko Marczyk (ŠKODA Polska Motorsport) for fifth, who had less than 200 kilometres of gravel experience before this weekend.
ŠKODA AUTO Deutschland’s Fabian Kreim and Toksport WRT driver Chris Ingram pick up their podium battle seventh and eighth in the road order, with rally-leading duo Nikolay Gryazin and Jari Huttunen P10 and ninth to kick off respectively.
Four drivers will not return after rally-ending crashes during leg one. Newly crowned champion* Alexey Lukyanuk damaged his car with a high-speed off into a tree on Saturday morning, as did Printsport’s ERC Junior U28 contender Łukasz Pieniążek.
ERC Junior U27 pairing Kacper Wróblewski (Rallytechnology) and Sebastian Johansson will not return either, both suffering accidents yesterday. However, ADAC Opel Rallye Junior star Mārtiņš Sesks is back, the championship leader’s decision to retire earlier and drive back to service validated by a fully-fixed Opel ADAM R2.
*Subject to confirmation of the final result by the FIA
