Miika Hokkanen wants to be fighting for class wins after making it two podiums in as many rounds of the FIA ERC Junior Under 27 Championship in Latvia last weekend.
Finn Hokkanen followed up his third place in the Pirelli-supported category on PZM Rally Poland in September with an identical result on Rally Liepāja’s high-speed gravel stages in the Saintéloc Junior Team PEUGEOT 208 R2 he shares with co-driver Reeta Hämäläinen.
“A podium is a good result of course, we want to be winning but the guys in front were very fast the whole weekend so we need to be happy with this,” said Hokkanen, a university student. “We found a decent rhythm but we were losing 10s to the leaders in every stage.
“The feeling on Saturday morning was not perfect so we made some changes for the afternoon loop and it felt much better. We tried to get more grip in the rear of the car and that gave us the confidence to push harder. Of course there is always more to do but we were able to put our speed up a bit and find a decent rhythm but it was not enough for the top guys.”
