This is the Peugeot 208 R2 that Efrén Llarena and Sara Fernández will use to contest the Pirelli-supported FIA ERC3 Junior Championship in 2019 – having built it themselves from scratch.
The RFEDA Spanish federation-backed Rally Team Spain pair spent 150 hours turning a kit of parts into the car they will use from this week’s Azores Rallye.
“It’s one of the ways for us to be here,” explained Llarena. “We build the car, we earn some money and we also know the car very well now. It’s completely new and we are very happy with it.”
Llarena and Fernández prepared for the the Azores Rallye with a class win on the gravel-based Rally Tierras Altas de Lorca in their native Spain last weekend.
“It was good to try to get the feeling, so some kilometres and we are very happy because we win,” said Llarena.
