Zelindo Melegari used his class victory on the recent Tuscan Rewind to prepare for a return to the FIA European Rally Championship’s ERC2 category in 2019.
Melegari has been a regular in the series in recent seasons, finishing second in the final standings in 2017 but suffering disappointment in 2018 due to a spate of mechanical issues.

Last weekend, the Italian was in action on the Tuscan Rewind rally, placing P11 overall and winning the N4 category alongside-co-driver Carlo Vezzano in a Subaru Impreza. Afterwards Melegari revealed that work is underway to prepare for the new season.

“I chose this rally on gravel because the stages are fantastic, most were part of Rallye Sanremo in the past,” said Melegari. “Also this was a good rally for training for next year in the ERC. There was also a special stage of 24 kilometres, which is hard to find in Italy because normally the stages are shorter. I enjoyed [the rally] a lot as it runs in the beautiful Tuscan scenery. "

Of his plans for the 2019 ERC, Melegari is still finalising the recruitment of a new co-driver and deciding on which car he will drive and for which team.
