FIA European Rally Championship-winning outfit ŠKODA Motorsport has a new home in its native Czech Republic.
Located in Plazy on the outskirts of Mladá Boleslav, where ŠKODA AUTO is located, the purpose-built facility will improve working practices and delivery of its rally cars to customers, according to the Czech firm.

Christian Strube, Head of Technical Development at ŠKODA AUTO, says: “Due to an improved workflow, we can develop and [build] up cars even more [efficiently] and make our service for our customers even better. Last year, our target was to provide more than 200 Fabia R5 to customers worldwide. Up to now, almost 250 Fabia were sold. In order to keep that momentum, these new premises are an ideal foundation for the future success of our motorsport programme.”

Michal Hrabánek, ŠKODA Motorsport boss, added: “This brand new facility clearly demonstrates ŠKODA’s commitment to motorsport. It will help us a lot to improve our customer service and to continue the success story of ŠKODA Motorsport worldwide.”

The new premises cover 16,400 square metres and feature 1859 square metres of office space and 3844 metres of workshop and storage facilities. Meanwhile, the warehouse has room for 5000 Fabia R5 components.

ŠKODA’s Fabia R5 powered four different winners in the 2018 ERC, while Nikolay Gryazin – who claimed two outright wins – claimed the ERC Junior Under 28 title* in a Fabia R5 run by Sports Racing Technologies. Esappeka Lappi was ŠKODA's last overall champion in 2014.
