Paulo Nobre said he expected to lose more time running first on the road on the opening day of the FIA European Rally Championship finale in Latvia.
Nobre opted to go at the head of the pack on Rally Liepāja’s first leg in his Motorsport Italia ŠKODA Fabia R5, despite having the option to run slightly lower down the order.
“I thought it would be worst on the road, it was not that slippery,” said Brazilian Nobre. “The point is the rally is very, very fast, the fastest we do this year so it’s a lot of fun. I am used to be first on the road since 2012 and for me it’s an honour to open the rally, especially a rally like this here in the European championship.”
