Paulo Nobre will return to international rallying after a five-year gap when he embarks on a full-season campaign in the FIA European Rally Championship.
Nobre, a regular in the world championship and cross-country events in the past, hasn’t competed at international level since 2012.

During that time, he’s been busy masterminding the revival of his beloved football team Palmeiras in his role as Club President following a period of decline.

With his job now complete, Nobre is returning to his “hobby” and will drive a ŠKODA Fabia R5 for Motorsport Italia on all eight rounds of the ERC starting with this week’s Azores Airlines Rallye with Gabriel Morales co-driving.

“Since 2013 I had the most difficult rally for my life, the biggest responsibility that God puts in my hands and that was to drive Palmeiras for four years,” Nobre explained. “With a group of fantastic people we changed the story of Palmeiras because they were in a very bad situation and we could put Palmeiras back in the place of being champion of Brazil.

“Rally is a hobby for me and I miss a lot because I like the feeling we had inside the car.

Last year I returned to make some rallies in Brazil and this year we are back [internationally] to have some fun.”
