Saintéloc at the double: two-pronged attack on 2019 ERC with PEUGEOT 208 R2 and new Citroën C3 R5

Multiple event and title-winning squad Saintéloc Racing is targeting success with R2 and R5 machinery in the 2019 FIA European Rally Championship.
The highly-respected French outfit has purchased a Citroën C3 R5 as its flagship challenger and also has seats available at its Saintéloc Junior Team offshoot, which is planning to field a trio of PEUGEOT 208 R2s in ERC Junior next season.
“With the 2018 ERC season over we’re working overtime to prepare for 2019,” said Saintéloc Racing’s Rally Manager Vincent Ducher. “After running a successful 2018 campaign with multiple PEUGEOT 208 R2s and a T16 R5, we now have our sights set on signing a top driver for our Citroën C3 R5, while also looking to recruit a number of younger, less experienced talents to drive our fleet of PEUGEOT 208 R2s. At the same time, we are looking for partners to help ensure a great year of rallies and tests.”
As part of its ongoing preparations for 2019, Saintéloc entered promising Swedish driver Mattias Adielsson on last week’s Rallye du Var in its Citroën C3 R5. Despite limited pre-event running, ERC Junior graduate Adielsson set top-20 stage times against 30 other R5s. He completed the event under Rally2 rules following minor damage on the opening leg.
Finn Aki Sahila was also in action for Saintéloc on Rallye du Var, finishing third in the R2 class in a PEUGEOT 208. Frenchman Alexandre Mollard drove another Saintéloc-run 208.
Saintéloc has a strong record of success in the ERC having managed the PEUGEOT Rally Academy programme from 2013-2015 and from 2017-2018. Drivers to have benefited from the team’s expertise and experience include Kevin Abbring, Jérémi Ancian, Craig Breen, Diogo Gago, Miika Hokkanen, Stéphane Lefebvre, Pepe López, Charles Martin, Catie Munnings, Laurent Pellier, José Suárez and Simon Wagner.
Subject to confirmation and FIA World Motor Sport Council approval, the 2019 ERC season will open on the Azores Airlines Rallye from 21-23 March and feature a further seven events. In total, four will run on asphalt and four on gravel. ERC Junior will be contested over six rounds on an equal spread of surfaces.
Meanwhile, Saintéloc hopes to continue its alliance with Briton Catie Munnings, who has enjoyed success in ERC Junior with the team in the last two seasons.
