Swedish ERC and WTCR aces united

Mattias Adielsson and Johan Kristoffersson, who will represent Sweden in the FIA European Rally Championship and WTCR – FIA World Touring Car Cup presented by OSCARO respectively this season, were podium finishers at the SM-Sprint Vinter in their homeland yesterday.

Broadcast live on Swedish television, the event featured a 4.6-kilometre stage run four times. Kristoffersson took victory in his Volkswagen Polo GTI R5 with Adielsson a slender 5.7s adrift in third in the Saintéloc Racing Citroën C3 R5 he will use for his maiden ERC1 Junior bid. Patrik Flodin claimed second in his ŠKODA Fabia R5, 1.3s behind Kristoffersson.

The ERC and WTCR / OSCARO are both promoted by Eurosport Events. The Azores Rallye is set to open the 2019 ERC calendar from 21-23 March, while WTCR Race of Morocco marks the opening round of the 10-weekend, 30-race WTCR / OSCARO season two from 5-7 April.
