Florian Bernardi will chase ERC3 success in this season’s FIA European Rally Championship starting with Rally Islas Canarias – his first event outside his native France.
Bernardi, 29, has enjoyed significant success at junior level and last year placed runner-up in the highly competitive French Clio R3T Trophy.
And he will be Clio-powered when he embarks on his maiden ERC adventure, which is set to take in the championship’s three all-asphalt events.
“I am here for the learning of other rallies, compete against other drivers and get the experience,” said Bernardi. “For the season my objective is to start the asphalt rallies because this is where I have my experience as I have never had the opportunity to drive on gravel.”
Bernardi, who will be co-driven by Victor Bellotto, is already a double class winner in France this season. “It’s my second season in the Clio R3T and it’s a good car and maybe a good car for this rally. It’s a hard rally, you find little parts on the stages that are like France but the rest are very different.”
With the 11 ERC Junior Under 27 Championship contenders, plus Canary Islander Emma Falcón also eligible for class points, ERC3 will be extremely competitive on Rally Islas Canarias.
