Eurosport 2 Russia launch

Capitalising on its growing European strength, Eurosport 2 has launched a Russian version on Monday August 29 across the country's major cable networks. The Russian lift-off coincides with the start of the U.S. Open, as Shamil Tarpischev of the IOC will b
Tarpischev, an IOC member and president of the Russian Tennis Federation, will be commentating throughout Eurosport's complete coverage of the U.S. Open from August 29 to September 11.
Matches will be broadcast exclusively on Eurosport and Eurosport 2 from 20:00 to 23:00 CET.
"We are glad to start with the U.S. Open so that viewers can follow the performance of their national champions in Russian," said Jean-Thierry Augustin, Eurosport Deputy Managing Director in charge of Distribution.
On air throughout Europe since January 2005, Eurosport 2 offers LIVE sports events, non-stop scrolling news updates, and magazine-style programmes on extreme sports, martial arts and more.
"Following the launch of the Italian and French version of Eurosport 2 in May, we are delighted to bring Eurosport 2 in Russian to the Russian public," Augustin said.
"This reinforces Eurosport's position as a long favoured internation channel in Russia, providing an even wider range of high quality sports programming."
