Hoffmann was left with a gash on her arm after the Hungarians crashed into the Japanese duo of Nozomi Watanabe and Akiyuki, who were practising a lift.
After being treated by doctors, Hoffmann and Elek asked officials if they could skate later but were told it was not possible and were given two minutes to appear on the ice.
"She hit me with her blade and her blade cut my elbow," said Hoffman. "We didn't see them.

"We had two minutes. We had to decide, something like this had never happened to us before.
"I don't know where I am, I forgot some steps.
"But we wanted to finish the last competition of the season, so we did the program."
Hoffmann and Elek, the 2004 world junior championship silver medallists, were not among the medal contenders.
