Final face-off before the storm

The warm-up not only offers a final chance for teams to fine-tune their setup, it’s also a fresh opportunity to gain a psychological edge over rivals just a few hours from the race start.

Team SRC Kawasaki emerged victorious in that particular game this morning, coming in ahead of F.C.C. TSR Honda France. A particularly ambitious Mercury Racing took 3rd spot. But the Czech BMW-mounted squad have a tough task ahead, as they’ll be running the entire 8-hour race with only two riders, Karel Hanika and Sylvain Barrier. Jakub Smrž was injured during qualifying.

This morning’s leading pack also comprised the favourites: GMT94 Yamaha, Honda Endurance Racing, YART Yamaha and NRT48.

In the Superstock class, Yamaha Viltaïs Experiences proved quicker than Moto Ain, No Limits Motor Team and Tati Team Beaujolais Racing.

Meanwhile, a new factor has come into play at the 8 Hours of Oschersleben: the weather. After two hot, sunny days on the Motorsport Arena, the sky was overcast this morning, with a light drizzle on some areas of the circuit.

The 8 Hours of Oschersleben will be flagged off at 1pm CEST today. Follow the race start procedure live on Facebook from 12 noon.
