Honda Endurance Racing has announced its final 24 Heures Motos line-up to carry on the good work after the team’s third-place finish at the Bol d’Or. Three endurance specialists – Sébastien Gimbert, Grégory Leblanc and Erwan Nigon – will be riding the factory Honda #111.
These three French riders have a great deal in common. All three have competed in MotoGP 250, been French Superbike champions, and won the 24 Heures Motos at least once in their respective careers.
With five wins on the Bugatti circuit at Le Mans and four at the Bol d’Or, Grégory Leblanc leads the trio when it comes to laurels.
Sébastien Gimbert is a three-time winner of both the 24 Heures Motos and the Bol d’Or.
Their new Honda Endurance Racing teammate Erwan Nigon’s track record also features a 24 Heures Motos win, and he has built up rock-solid experience of endurance racing with a number of leading factory-backed teams: Suzuki Endurance Racing Team, BMW Motorrad, SRC Kawasaki, GMT94 Yamaha and, more recently, the Japanese squad Eva RT Webike Trick Star, the second runner-up at the 2016 Bol d’Or.
Following its third-place finish at last September’s Bol d’Or, Honda Endurance Racing is targeting more lofty heights with its new trio of endurance specialists.
Watch their progress starting on Thursday 19 April at the first official tests of the 24 Heures Motos, the second round of the 2017-2018 FIM EWC.
