Team SRC Kawasaki France has recruited David Checa to partner with Randy de Puniet and Jérémy Guarnoni in a fresh bid to win the world title.
The new season gets underway at the Bol d’Or on 15 and 16 September on the Paul Ricard circuit at Castellet, and Team SRC Kawasaki France is looking like a strong candidate to win the 2018-2019 FIM EWC title.
The factory-backed French team managed by Gilles Stafler has just recruited David Checa. The Spanish rider – a mainstay of GMT94 Yamaha since 2003 – is a three-time Endurance world champion, in 2004, 2014 and 2016-2017.
David Checa’s experience is an added advantage for Team SRC Kawasaki France, which now boasts a line-up that makes it a favourite for the win right from the opening round of the season. David Checa will be at the start of the Bol d’Or with teammates Randy de Puniet and Jérémy Guarnoni.
MotoGP rider Randy de Puniet raced his first Bol d’Or in 2016 with Team SRC Kawasaki France, finishing in 2nd place. He has since proved to be a very competitive Endurance racer.
Jérémy Guarnoni, who has forged a successful career in the European Superstock 1000 championship, joined Team SRC Kawasaki France at the 2018 24 Heures Motos.
Team SRC Kawasaki France was created in 2009 by Gilles Stafler, a long-time mechanic and subsequently technical director of Team Kawasaki France, to keep the brand competing at the highest level of endurance racing. Stafler’s squad notched up five 24 Heures Motos wins and three Bol d’Or victories from 2010 to 2016.
Kawasaki France has been crowned endurance world champion on six occasions: in 1981, 1982, 1991, 1992, 1994 and 1996.
