Moto Ain CRT has put together a strong rider line-up to go after the 2017 FIM EWC Superstock World Cup. Roberto Rolfo, a former 250cc GP runner-up, will shore up Alexis Masbou and Christoffer Bergman on the Yamaha #96.
After confirming that Alexis Masbou – the French Moto3 rider who helped steer the Moto Ain CRT Yamaha to the Superstock win at the 2016 Bol d’Or – is back with the team this season, alongside Swedish rider Christoffer Bergman who is currently racing the FIM Supersport World Championship, Moto Ain CRT team manager Pierre Chapuis has pulled another rabbit out of his hat by signing up Roberto Rolfo.
Rolfo was one of the leading lights in the 250cc GP in the 2000s. He had his best season in 2003, clinching the runner-up position in the 250cc championship after a third-place finish in 2002. The Italian rider notched up three 250cc GP wins, plus a win in Moto2 in 2010.
After switching to the FIM Superbike world championship, Roberto Rolfo has subsequently made a good showing in the Supersport World Championship, taking his latest win at Phillip Island last year, ahead of Lucas Mahias. The 37-year-old’s entry into the FIM EWC has not gone unnoticed.
Moto Ain CRT is already putting its three riders through their paces, with a three-day test session on the Spanish circuit of Almeria. Pierre Chapuis has declared himself very satisfied with the performance of his new trio.
