A trio of teams is keeping the excitement high in the Superstock class. Junior Team Le Mans Sud Suzuki, Yamaha Viltaïs Experiences, and Atomic 68 are neck and neck.
Even as the two factory-backed Yamahas wage battle at the front end of the race, a different combat is being played out from 9th place on in the Superstock class. Three teams are locked in a close fight, alternately taking over the lead as the others stop to refuel.
One and a half hours from the finish, the Superstock win could go to any of these teams: Junior Team Le Mans Sud Suzuki (Hugo Clère, Louis Rossi and Alex Sarrabayrouse), Yamaha Viltaïs Experiences (Axel Maurin, Florian Alt and Vincent Lonbois) and Atomic 68 (Clément Stoll, Guillaume Antiga and Stéphane Egéa).
Yamaha Viltaïs Experiences are counting on their bike’s lower fuel consumption to give them an edge over their rivals. Junior Team Le Mans Sud Suzuki has put its two fastest riders, Louis Rossi and Hugo Clère, on full-time duty to boost its chances. Atomic 68, a team from Eastern France, is a genuine rival – the riders have got back their feeling with the bike after switching to Dunlop tyres.
After being slowed down by a minor headlamp issue, Tati Team Beaujolais Racing (Julien Pilot, Kevin Denis and Julien Enjolras) was in this battle but was dampened by a fuel shortage.
