Two hours into a very eventful race, Yamaha Factory Racing Team has settled into the lead at the Suzuka 8 Hours.
The race got off to a turbo-charged start. Leon Haslam got the holeshot for Kawasaki Team Green, but Takumi Takahashi on the Musashi RT Harc-Pro Honda bike wrested away the lead and began duelling with Katsuyuki Nakasuga of the Yamaha Factory Racing Team. Musashi RT Harc-Pro Honda and Yamaha Factory Racing Team’s fight for the lead lasted just over two hours, until Takaaki Nakagami’s crash caused Musashi RT to drop back to 4th place.
Several squads crashed in the starting laps, including Yoshimura Suzuki Motul Racing, Moriwaki Motul Racing, Honda Endurance Racing and Suzuki Endurance Racing Team. All three have returned to the track, but are currently lapping beyond 20th place.
