YART Yamaha quickest in free practice

With a 2:04.391 lap, Broc Parkes clocked the fastest time of the morning on the Slovakia Ring on YART Yamaha’s R1. His performance augurs well for first qualifying this afternoon, as the YART Yamaha line-up – Broc Parkes, Marvin Fritz and Max Neukirchner – is known for being highly consistent.

Consistency is also the strong point of the Team SRC Kawasaki riders. Julien da Costa, Randy de Puniet and Jérémy Guarnoni completed their quickest lap in 2:04.633, right behind the factory-backed Austrian team.

A clutch of favourites shadowed the two teams with the 2:40 lap times: GMT94 Yamaha, F.C.C. TSR Honda France, BMW-mounted NRT48 and Mercury Racing, Suzuki Endurance Racing Team and Honda Endurance Racing.

The top two Superstocks were 11th and 12th-fastest, with Junior Team Le Mans Sud Suzuki (2:06.706) a shade quicker than Moto Ain (Yamaha), which set a 2:06.844 lap.

Teams will be back on the track at 3.40pm for the first qualifying of the 8 Hours of Slovakia Ring, the 3rd round of the 2017-2018 FIM EWC.
