In Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Manchester United have recruited one of the most high-profile players in world football.
Here, Press Association Sport looks at five things you may not have known about the 34-year-old Sweden striker.
1 Ibrahimovic, born in Malmo in 1981, would frequently steal bicycles as a youth, which he says was because he needed transport for the long journeys to training sessions.
2 While Ibrahimovic - who recently declared he "came like a king, left like a legend" with regard to his time at Paris St Germain - is well-known for referring to himself in grandiose terms, the man he has said was his footballing "idol" is former Brazil striker Ronaldo.
3 In 2012 Ibrahimovic, then with PSG, became the first player to score for six different clubs in the Champions League - the others being AC Milan, Barcelona, Inter Milan, Juventus and Ajax.
4 That year also saw the Ibrahimovic-inspired verb 'zlatanera', meaning 'to dominate', officially recognised by the Swedish Language Council and included on its list of new words.
5 He has said that if he was not a footballer, he could see himself having a career in martial arts. While at AC Milan in 2010 he was awarded an honorary black belt by the Italian Taekwondo Federation.
