As excuses go, it’s pretty unusual. But, in this digital age, not surprising.

Keita Balde of FC Internazionale looks on during the Serie A match between Atalanta BC and FC Internazionale at Stadio Atleti Azzurri d'Italia on November 11, 2018 in Bergamo, Italy.

Senegal will not be able to pick their star striker Keita Balde Diao against Equatorial Guinea on Saturday, all because of a mix-up over his email address.
The national team insist they informed the Inter star of his call-up for the Africa Cup of Nations match but it was not received as the contact information was out of date.
The Serie A club are now refusing to let the player leave.
Vice-president of the Senegalese FA, Abdoulaye Sow, released a statement which read: “We have sent an email to Inter to inform them of the summoned player, but it was sent to the old email address that Internazionale Milano no longer uses.
They changed their address. At the current moment, the player cannot leave and cannot be called to join us. His club is uncompromising.
Senegal are joint top of Group A in their qualifying group with Madagascar – both teams are locked on 10 points with two matches remaining.
Although they have both qualified, the all-important top spot is yet to be confirmed with the sides facing each other in the final pool match.
The email error could yet come to haunt them. Next time, just pick up the phone, eh?
