Speaking at the Ballon d’Or press conference, before Messi’s likely coronation as the world’s best player, the three nominees were invited to say what they would like to take from each of their rivals.
And Ronaldo had no hesitation in admitting that he was in awe of Messi’s left foot.
Messi’s Barcelona team-mate Neymar then joked that he would like both of his colleagues feet, which have put the Argentinian on course for a record fifth Ballon d’Or.

Messi: Neymar is no one's successor

"No no I don't think he's anyone's successor. He'll be himself which is a great and I'm sure he'll continue to evolve and grow. He has everything he needs to be whatever he wants to be. Apart from being an extraordinary player he is an extraordinary human being."

Messi: Five Ballon d'Ors or one World Cup?

"Well... that's tough. Obviously a World Cup. I've always said team achievements are bigger than individual. I would stick with World Cup."

Humble Neymar praises fellow contenders

“I think they are absolutely the best, that’s why they’re here,” said Neymar. “I think they’ve made history. Both Lionel and Cristiano.
“I’m very pleased to be here alongside two great players. Hopefully I can keep helping my team win and be here again in the future.”
“I’m pleased with the things I have achieved... the goals I have scored. I thank my team-mates for that. Each player has his own aims. We have to be ourselves.”

Ronaldo expects Messi to triumph

"It is not surprising to me that Leo might stand a better chance today than me. But if I am here it is for a reason - it would not be a surprise to me if Leo or Neymar were to win. I know on a collective level the situation has been different but all three of us are here on merit."

Ronaldo on FIFA corruption

“These things happen, not just in football. The best thing is no corruption... in all life.”

Ronaldo reveals secrets of No. 7 shirt

“When I arrived at Man United, I asked for 28 but the coach said no, you will wear 7. I was petrified as I knew Beckham wore that shirt. But I took on the challenge and since then it has been my lucky number. I have won everything in football with that shirt.”
