Standard Liege remained top of the Belgian first division on goal difference despite a goalless draw by Roeselare at the weekend. Standard are level on 32 points with Anderlecht after the Brussels side got back to winning ways with a 3-0 home victory over Ghent.
Two goals from Mbo Mpenza and a header from Hannu Tihinen earned Anderlecht their first victory in three outings.
Champions Club Bruges moved to within a point of the leaders with a 2-0 win over Germinal Beerschot.

Bruges, who have played one more game than the top two and have 31 points.
Bosnian striker Adnan Custovic scored a hat-trick for Excelsior Mouscron in their 6-3 win at St Truiden.
