Schlaudraff faces two months out
Bayern Munich striker signing Jan Schlaudraff has said his return from injury will take longer than first thought, delaying his debut with the Bavarian giants for potentially another two months.
Schlaudraff, who joined from Alemannia Aachen for over €1 million, is currently sidelined after undergoing surgery on a slipped disc in his spine.
"I can start to run again in about four to six weeks," he said. "Then it will be a further three to four weeks until I am fit to play."
Coach Ottmar Hitzfeld has concerns over strikers Luca Toni - another new arrival - and Lukas Podolski before the season begins on August 10th. Only a third new man in attack, Miroslav Klose, is currently fit.
Schlaudraff, 24, added: "It is not an easy situation for me [to be in]. Everyone can put themselves [in Hitzfeld's plans]. The team has an opportunity to get into form."
Habitual Champions League competitors Bayern only qualified for the UEFA Cup this season after finishing fourth in the Bundesliga last year.
