Werder Bremen are bracing themselves for a spate of bids for Germany star Mesut Ozil.
The 21-year-old midfielder was one of many Germany players to impress at the World Cup in South Africa, and while he insisted he would stay at Bremen next season he only has one year left on his contract.
General manager Klaus Allofs expects Europe’s biggest clubs to circle around the former Schalke player, who has been linked with Real Madrid, Barcelona and Arsenal.
"I am already thinking about receiving offers in the next few weeks or just before the transfer deadline from a number of clubs," Allofs said. "If something concrete comes, we have a duty to talk to Mesut and his advisors and to see what they want.
"We will not change our policy. We cannot afford it."
