Milan captain Gennaro Gattuso has been charged with 'gross improper conduct' by UEFA, the lesser of the two misconduct charges.
The 33-year-old will learn his punishment for headbutting Tottenham assistant manager Joe Jordan at the end of Spurs' 1-0 Champions League win at the San Siro when a UEFA disciplinary panel meets on Monday.
However, Gattuso avoided the more serious charge of assault on former Milan player Jordan, which carries with it a minimum three-match ban.
Instead, the combative midfielder could escape with as little as a one-match ban for the lesser misconduct charge.
Any punishment would be added to the return fixture of the last-16 tie at White Hart Lane on March 9, which Gattuso will miss anyway following his booking.
Gattuso has repeatedly apologised for his actions since, and said he will accept whatever fate befalls him.
He told Milan's official website: "It's my fault, I shouldn't have had a fight with someone older than me - it's wrong. We'll see what measures the disciplinary committee will take."
