Real Madrid's 3-0 loss to CSKA Moscow on Wednesday night will be a night to forget for Los Blancos, who recorded their worst ever home European defeat.
Real never looked at the races against a CSKA side who were looking for a famous win too boost their chances of securing a Europa League place (a bid that ultimately fell just short).
Here are all the stats and facts from an extraordinary night at the Bernabeu:
- Real's 3-0 defeat was their heaviest home loss in any European competition in the club's history.
- This was only the 11th time in those 254 European home matches that Real conceded 3+ goals.
- The defeat to CSKA was Real's second to the same opponent in the group stage - the first time they have lost twice to the same group opponent since the 2008/09 season.
- Real Madrid had not failed to score in a home Champions League game since April 2011 (against Barcelona).
- Real had not a home Champions League group game since defeat to AC Milan in 2009.
- Vinicius Junior at 18 years and 152 days is the third youngest player to ever start a Champions League match for Real Madrid. Only Iker Casillas and Raul Gonzalez started at a younger age.
- Vinivius Junior's 11 attempted dribbles was the most by any Real Madrid player in any competition this season.
- The average age of Real Madrid's starting XI was their third youngest in the Champions League era.
- CSKA have the highest points tally (7) for a team finishing bottom of a Champions League group since Copenhagen in 2006.
