ALMOST THE DOZEN? Liverpool have won each of their last 11 games played on this date – a run stretching back to 1973.
Shaqiri with a couple of stepovers and a lovely slalom as he dances towards goal, but a last-ditch challenge denies him the chance to pull the trigger.

Liverpool have sent Salah et al to warm up...
Scholz meets a deep left-wing corner but can't find a way past Alisson.
Liverpool will no doubt have been told to up the tempo by Klopp at the break. His words have not worked thus far. Still pretty slow-paced from the hosts.

LIVERPOOL HT CHANGE: Henderson off, Wijnaldum on.

HT: Liverpool 0-0 Midtjylland.
Minamino steers a 14-yard header wide from TAA's raking cross. It would have needed a special header to score from there though.
Two minutes added at the end of a poor half of football. The Danes have defended well and also carved out the best opening early on.
LATEST: Atalanta 0-2 Ajax. Traore.
- Yellow cardJames MilnerLiverpool
Shaqiri feeds Milner inside the area, but the midfielder's shot is well blocked. The visitors break from the resulting corner and Milner goes in the book for stopping it by illegal means.
Cajuste with a good, sliding interception on the right side of his area after Robertson's curling ball had threatened to find Minamino.
Robertson swings in a left-wing corner, but Jota miscues badly despite being unmarked near the far post.

Cajuste catches Henderson with a needless lunge as the Liverpool skipper looked to move the ball out of defence. Another yellow card for the away side.
- OnRhys WilliamsLiverpool
LIVERPOOL CHANGE: Rhys Williams on for the injured Fabinho.
Bad news for Liverpool at the back once more. Fabinho looks to have hurt his hamstring and is down getting treatment. Klopp is readying a change.
Sviatchenko gets across to deny Minamino after Henderson and TAA had combined to carve the visitors open.
- Yellow cardFrank OnyekaFC Midtjylland
Gomez heads a long throw from the tight out of the danger zone. Origi looks to launch a counter but is brought down by Onyeka. Yellow card for the Midtjylland man.
Alexander-Arnold drives in from the right. He surges beyond a couple of defenders but sees his prod towards Minamino well cut out.
Elsewhere in this group, Atalanta and Ajax remain goalless.
Henderson lets out a frustrated roar as TAA's clipped free kick is over-hit and fails to pick out his clever run.
- Yellow cardAlexander ScholzFC Midtjylland
Scholz booked for bringing down Jota as he looked to burst through the middle.
The Wolves are very happy with the way the contest has started.
DID YOU KNOW? Liverpool did not secure a clean sheet at home in the Champions League last season, but have kept nine in the last 15 at Anfield in Europe. Their last on home turf came in the 4-0 win over Barcelona in 2019.
Better from the Merseysiders. Alexander-Arnold flashes a trademark cross towards the run of Minamino, who fails to connect with an attempted side-foot on the run.
Dejau vu as another Liverpool free kick from the right comes to nothing. The hosts flick the second ball back into the middle, but Henderson can't sort his feet out fast enough and fails to get the shot away.
Midtjylland deal with a right-wing Liverpool free kick with ease. The Reds look to build again but a long pass out to TAA is over-hit and flies out for a throw-in. More early frustration for the hosts.
Liverpool have yet to get into first gear here.
Sisto teases it low towards the near post, but can't pick out a teammate. Easy enough for Alisson.
Milner trips Dreyer on the right flank. Free kick to the Wolves in a good position.
Almost a dream start for the Danes. Dreyer makes a clever diagonal run in-behind and finds himself one on one with Alisson, but can't fire his shot beyond the keeper. Super stop from the Brazilian.
Liverpool in Europe: played 401, won 223, drawn 89, lost 89.
- 1st Half
KICK OFF! The visitors get this Group D encounter underway.
A rare start for Origi tonight, but could he mark it by helping himself to a milestone or two? Liverpool’s next goal will be the 10,000th scored in the club’s history... AND ... The Reds are also just three goals shy of clocking up 50 goals at Anfield in the Champions League under Klopp.
ON THIS DAY: Xherdan Shaqiri scored his first goal for Liverpool on this day in 2018 in a 4-1 home victory over Cardiff City. The Swiss star has only featured twice so far this term, netting in the League Cup win at Lincoln and coming on as a substitute in the CL away to Ajax.
DID YOU KNOW? This is only Liverpool's fifth game against a Danish club. The last one saw them lose 1-0 at home to Brondby as they went out in the 1995-96 UEFA Cup second round. second leg (0-1 on aggregate). Prior to that the Reds beat OB in the first round of the 1983-84 European Cup (6-0 over the two legs).
UEFA STAT: The Reds are in the UEFA Champions League group stage for the 13th time; they have only failed to progress to the last 16 or further three times.
Brian Priske, Midtjylland coach: "In many phases, I was actually satisfied with the Atalanta match despite the result (L0-4). We just make a lot of mistakes that we are not allowed to make in either the Champions League or the Super League. If we can eliminate them and do not get opened up too much, we have taken a big step."
Meanwhile, Klopp reckons Liverpool have only seen a glimpse of what Diogo Jota can produce in a red shirt. The former Wolves man got the winner in the 2-1 success over Sheffield United on Saturday night – and starts this evening.
FC Midtyjlland have made their fairytale rise via a data-led analytical strategy. It was something that Jurgen Klopp was keen to take a closer look at when he left Borussia Dortmund. He said: "I was interested to go there to have a look at what they do but then I signed to Liverpool so couldn't do that. It is an interesting approach. I knew a little bit about the story of the club and the things they have tried, using science in a different way, and working very specifically."
Alisson on his rapid return from a shoulder injury: "I believe in my faith and working hard helps me to make a fast recovery. Every injury that you have on the ligament - shoulder, ankle or knee - you still feel something weird. Not pain, you feel it for a while. But I'm 100% fit to play and I'm comfortable with that."
FC Midtjylland stopper Jasper Hansen misses out through injury, so Mikkel Anderson dons the goalkeeping gloves for the clash in L4. The visitors make a flurry of changes from their 3-2 win at Brondby over the weekend, with Joel Andersson, Jens Cajuste, Pione Sisto and Awer Mabil also in from the start.
