Good evening! The Champions League is back and there are a couple of rip-roaring ties to get the quarter final stage underway this evening, including this game between the competition’s favourites Manchester City and the dangerous Borussia Dortmund. I’ll bring you build-up for the next hour before live text commentary from 8pm. It should be a good one.

It’s all over at the Etihad and Manchester City will carry a 2-1 lead into the second leg. The tie is set up brilliantly, and Dortmund’s away goal will give them hope. But City were the better side and just about deserved the win, and it was fitting that the excellent Foden was the player to get it. I don’t know about you, but I’ll definitely be tuning in for this one next Wednesday.

What a finish to the game this has been, just as it looked to be meandering to a conclusion. It's set it up brilliantly for the second leg next Wednesday.

De Bruyne’s deep cross picked out Gundogan at the back post, and the former Dortmund man kept his cool to lay it off to Foden for the finish. That’s a big goal in the context of the tie.

That was class from Dortmund; one tidy pass around the corner from Bellingham was followed by a lovely assist from Haaland, and Reus was clinical with the finish, arrowed across the keeper and into the far bottom corner. That’s got them into a great position in the tie, all square and with an away goal too.

A long ball over the top is inches away from picking out the run of Haaland in behind. A goal for Dortmund now would leave them in a terrific position in the tie.
79'
Foden has been so lively in the last few minutes and he almost opens Dortmund up again as he drifts in from the left.
77'
Foden gets a shot away from outside the box as City break, with De Bruyne again the man to pick out the killer pass. The keeper makes a bit of a meal of the save, but the loose ball is hacked away and Dortmund survive. This is the phase of the game where City so often pull away.

De Bruyne has been excellent tonight and he pings a shot narrowly wide after skipping past a couple of yellow shirts in midfield.
72'
Foden does brilliantly to skip into the Dortmund box between two defenders before pulling a low cross back across the area, but he fails to pick out a blue shirt and a dangerous move ends in nothing. That kind of sums up Foden’s night, sparkling on the ball but with little to show for it (so far).
71'
City are taking the sting out of this game well, crowding midfield and forcing Dortmund to drop deeper and deeper, leaving Haaland more and more isolated.
69'
Dortmund continue to look threatening without massively testing Ederson. They will be pretty satisfied with how they’ve played tonight, even though the score remains 1-0 to City.
66'
City very nearly gift a one-on-one to Reus, but the ball just runs away from him as he nips in to dispossess the dallying Dias.

That’s a golden chance for City! De Bruyne does brilliantly to turn his man and then pick out the perfect pull-back for Foden, only for the youngster to fire his shot straight at the keeper. That should have been the second goal.

Young Knauff's full debut comes to an end. He's been decent without really posing much of a threat to City.

The effort from Reus clips the wall and City breathe a sigh of relief.

Haaland is caught by Stones on the edge of the box and it’s a very dangerous position for a free-kick...

Jesus links up really nicely with Foden on the edoge of the Dortmund box, but the forward was fractionally offside.

Guardiola looks to mix things up a bit and brings on a centre-forward to try and stop Dortmund from being quite so comfortable at the back.
