FT: RB Leipzig 0-2 Liverpool. Goal from Salah and Mane put Liverpool in control of this Last 16 tie and give the Merseysiders a much-needed lift following a poor run of results on the domestic scene.
CLOSE! Hwang has a huge chance to pull a goal back but lifts his effort past the far post after a lovely run in-behind Henderson saw him get free on the right side of the box.

LIVERPOOL CHANGE: Salah off, Neco Williams on.
It's looking like a job well done for Liverpool. They've had all sorts of criticism in recent weeks and a lot of it is justified. But this has been much more like what we have come to expect from them.
Brilliant defending from Kabak. He reads the ball through for Hwang and surges across to beat the forward to the ball and avert the danger.
It's been all Leipzig in the last 10 minutes or so. Nagelsmann has cut a very animated figure on the touchline, almost trying to force the ball home for his side from where he is standing.
- Yellow cardJordan HendersonLiverpool
Angelino is left in acres of space on the left side of the box, but drags his shot well off target.

VAR checking a hand ball against Thiago from a Leipzig corner... no spot kick. As you were.
Olmo thinks he's in for a free shot from eight yards out, but Robertson is across in the nick of time to make a brilliant block.
Angelino charges into some space on the left but can't keep his 20-yard drive on target under pressure from TAA.
That could be a massive goal - not just in the tie, but Liverpool's season.
- GoalSadio ManéLiverpool
GOAL! Mane races clear and coolly fires into the corner after another error, this time from Mukiele.
STAT: Salah has now scored 7 goals in his last 7 games in league and cup.
That was Salah's 24th of the season.
- GoalMohamed SalahLiverpool
GOAL! Salah latches on to an error at the back, races clear and thumps the opener beyond Gulacsi.
- Yellow cardChristopher NkunkuRB Leipzig
Nkunku booked for catching Kabak with an arm as he went up in an aerial challenge.
DID YOU KNOW? On the last two occasions Liverpool have faced German opponents at this stage of the competition they have gone on to win the Champions League. They defeated Bayer Leverkusen in both legs in 2005 and eliminated Bayern Munich in 2019.
Leipzig look much more purposeful already in this half.
SAVE! Alisson produces a magnificent save to keep out Nkunku's shot after the forward had burst beyond Henderson.

KICK OFF! Liverpool restart the contest.

HT: Leipzig 0-0 Liverpool.
One minute added.
Liverpool have been very good in this half but Klopp will again lament that they have not been clinical if they don't get their reward before the break.
Liverpool think they have scored but the referee says the ball had gone out. Mane has two bites at the cherry with shots at goal. He then fights to keep the ball in play and hooks it back for Firmino to nod in. The flag is up though and the ball is adjudged to have gone behind.
Gulacsi tried so hard to get back to stop that Robertson's shot that he hurled himself into the back of his own net and almost picked up as nasty head injury. He has some treatment, but should be fine.
CLOSE! Robertson skims the top of the net with a 40-yard chip. Gulacsi had initially raced off his line to deny Mane a free run at goal, but was then almost caught out by Robertson's audacious effort.
CL LATEST: Barca 1-0 PSG. Messi from the spot.
Firmono latches on to TAA's tasty pass but his shot lacks the polish of his first touch.
Mane leaps high into the air but can only nod over the bar from Firmino's cross. The chance came after Salah pinched the ball in Leipzig's half and played a few one-twos with Firmino down the right to open them up.
Liverpool have been very bright in the first part of this half. Salah has looked very dangerous and there has been more pace to their attacks.
Sabitzer drills a right-foot shot from 25 yards towards the corner, but Alisson is down well to smother.
CLOSE! Gulacsi makes a crucial block with his face after Salah had surged on to Alexander Arnold's sublime pass and looked to finish with a dink.
Salah threatens again. This time he bursts free on the left to pick up Thiago's raking pass. He cuts inside and looks for Firmino with a low ball into the box, but it's behind the Brazilian and Leipzig mop up.
Firmino meets the resulting corner but can't get enough purchase on it for the header to be deemed an attempt of any note.
Liverpool threaten to carve Leipzig open. Salah surges into space on the right side of the area, but his cut back is well defended by Upamecano.
LFC v German sides: The Reds have not lost any of their last 10 legs of a tie against clubs from Germany, winning 7 and drawing 3. The last loss came with the 4-2 reversal at Bayer Leverkusen in 2002.
- Yellow cardNordi MukieleRB Leipzig
Mukiele also gets an early caution. Strange from Leipzig to pick up two yellows so quickly and with so much time left in the contest.
- Yellow cardAmadou HaidaraRB Leipzig
Haidara picks up a booking for a foul on Mane.
OFF THE POST! Angelino picks out Dani Olmo with a lovely ball from the left, but his header smacks the foot of Alisson's right post and bounces to safety.
Super pressing from Leipzig. Liverpool look to build on the right and then work it to the left, but then have to go back to the keeper such is the pressure on the ball.
Liverpool have had most of the ball in the early sparring. The visitors had a couple of situations down the right, but couldn't manufacture an opening.
Liverpool's overall record in the European Cup/Champions League: Pld 223, W127, D46, L50.
- 1st Half
KICK OFF! Leipzig get this Champions League Last 16, first leg up and running.
This is your five minute warning. Almost show time! Just a reminder that this first leg cannot take place at Leipzig’s home ground due to travel restrictions between Germany and Britain as a result of COVID-19. Instead, the two sides will lock horns in Hungary.
Liverpool’s woeful form is well documented with three defeats in a row pretty much ending their PL title defence. In contrast, Leipzig made it four wins in a row with a 2-1 victory at home to Augsburg on Friday night. Dani Olmo (pen) and Christopher Nkunku scored the goals for Leipzig.
FEATURE: A closer look at the problems facing Klopp at Liverpool. Can they kick-start a revival with a positive result tonight?
Péter Gulácsi, Leipzig goalkeeper: "On one hand, of course it’s a special game for me because I spent six years at (Liverpool), on the other, only Jordan Henderson is still at the club. For me, the most important thing is that we play well. With a good performance we can make it very difficult for Liverpool. That is our goal for the two games. Hopefully, we will be the team that will progress to the next round."
Another day, another round of transfer rumours. Liverpool could rival Manchester City, Bayern Munich and Dortmund for the signing of Florian Neuhaus. Check out the latest gossip in today's Paper Round.
Jordan Henderson: “It's difficult. When we've set standards that we've set over a long period of time, it's not normal for us. I do believe the lads give everything whenever we train and play, so we need to keep doing that to get out of this run. Leipzig are a very good side with very good players and manager. I think everybody knows that. We've got to go out there and give 100%, we're ready to give 100% to get a positive result."
Julian Nagelsmann: "There will be big phases where we have to defend deep because what they do is world class. Their three forwards are very dangerous and very good. Our performance has to be very good to win the game. A very important part of being a manager is to study the opponents."
Jurgen Klopp: "Nobody has to worry about me. I might not look like this because the weather is not cool, the beard gets more and more grey and I don't sleep a lot but I'm full of energy. The situation is a challenge. I don't want to have the situation but I see it as an interesting challenge. We will sort it.”
Liverpool make just the one change to the side that started in Saturday’s defeat to Leicester City. Thiago, who came on for the injured James Milner in the first half at the King Power Stadium, gets the nod from the kick off tonight.
CONFIRMED STARTING XIs - LEIPZIG: Gulasci, Upamencano, Klostermann, Mukiele, Kampl, Sabitzer, Haidara, Olmo, Adams, Angelino, Nkunku. /// LIVERPOOL: Alisson, Alexander-Arnold, Kabak, Henderson, Robertson, Wijnaldum, Jones, Thiago, Mane, Salah, Firmino.
Hello and welcome to LIVE updates of the first leg of Liverpool’s Champions League Last 16 clash with RB Leipzig at the Puskas Arena in Hungary. It is a HUGE game for the struggling Merseysiders, who know this competition represents their only realistic hope of lifting silverware this season following a poor run of form. In contrast, Leipzig are second in the Bundesliga and have won four on the spin. The German outfit will be relishing the chance to try and plot the Reds' downfall. Kick off 20:00 GMT.
