Alexander Sørloth, Liverpool-Lipsia

Liverpool have looked less productive as an attacking force as this match has gone on. They have had some big chances though. It's almost now or never time for Leipzig as the clock ticks on.

CLOSE! Sorloth's awkward header from Hwang's left-wing cross bounces off the bar and drops kindly for Liverpool.

Kluivert and Hwang are being readied. Leipzig could well be about to really go for this and put that Liverpool defence under the microscope. They've not done enough so far.

Answer: Bayer Leverkusen were the last German team to defeat Liverpool in the Champions League knockout stages back in 2002.

More frustration for Liverpool. Jota slots into the side netting after Upamecano made a complete mess of dealing with a high ball over the top.

One minute added as Kabak makes a crucial headed clearance under pressure from Forsberg.

VIDEO: Messi's moment of magic (nothing to do with Liverpool-Leipzig but too good to ignore!)

Nkunku rifles way over the top from 25 yards out.

Trent Alexander-Arnold davanti a Gulacsi, Liverpool-Lipsia

SAVE! Jota lets fly from the edge of the box but once again Gulacsi is there to deny Liverpool. Just seconds earlier a superb interception from TAA denied Leipzig a chance on goal.

LATEST: PSG 1-1 Barca. A stunner from Messi.

Mohamed Salah, Liverpool-Lipsia

LATEST: PSG 1-0 Barca.

Leipzig come again. Forsberg is left in acres 16 yards out but drags his shot wide of the far post.

Kampl lets fly from 25 yards but Alisson scurries to his left to keep it out.

CLOSE! TAA rampages into the right side of the Leipzig area. He has the choice of a shot but opts to take Gulacsi out of the game and cuts it back for Salah. The forward's eyes light up, but a defender gets across in the nick of time to clear over his own bar from inside the six-yard box.

At the other end, Leipzig have a half chance from a corner but Poulsen's header is off target.

Loving the social media references to a karate kid pass from Thiago too!

How has that stayed out? Liverpool break at speed. Thiago acrobatically sends Salah free. He charges into the left side of the box but his shot is straight at Gulacsi. It falls for Mane on the rebound but his header miscues into the ground and Leipzig scramble it clear.

Play continues after a brief delay. Mane is fine to stay involved in the action.

Thiago Alcantara, Liverpool-Lipsia

SAVE! Leipzig surge forward down the left through Nkunku and almost snatch the lead. Liverpool struggle to clear their lines but Alisson makes a superb stop to keep out Olmo after Poulsen had failed to get a shot away.

A GOOD OMEN? On the last two occasions Liverpool have faced German opponents at this stage they have gone on to win the Champions League. They defeated Bayer Leverkusen in both legs in 2005 and eliminated Bayern Munich in 2019.

Mane chests and volleys just over after being picked out on the far right of the area by Wijnaldum. Liverpool have looked lively so far.

DID YOU KNOW? This is the 21st time Liverpool have 'hosted' German opposition across all European competitions. The Reds are unbeaten in the previous 20 (W16, D4) and have scored 52 goals and conceded just nine.

Surely you've got to shoot there? Wijnaldum's drilled pass is taken in his stride by Thiago. He has a clear opportunity to let fly from 20 yards out in a central position, but tries to feed Salah to his right and gets his pass all wrong.

Gulacsi has to be alert early doors to deny Jota after Leipzig were caught playing out from the back. That was a feature of the first leg which the Merseysiders won 2-0.

KICK OFF! Leipzig get this second leg up and running.

Leipzig know the first goal tonight could really set Liverpool’s nerves jangling. The German outfit are hoping to make the Champions League quarter-finals for the second season on the spin after getting to the semis last term. Nagelsmann's men are second in the Bundesliga, two points off leaders Bayern Munich, having won each of their past six league matches. Indeed, they have clocked up eight wins from their last nine outings, with the first-leg loss to the Merseysiders the only blot on their copy book.

Eurosport's expert, Paul Parker has offered his view on Liverpool's recent woes.

STAT: Only four of Leipzig's 12 victories in the Champions League have been by more than one goal (33 per cent). However, the last time they triumphed by more than two goals in the knockout stages of the competition was versus another English team in the shape of Tottenham last term (3-0 in the round of 16 second leg).

Leipzig a fait tomber Tottenham en Ligue des champions

A few more words from Wijnaldum’s pre-mach presser. The Holland international offers his view on whether it’s CL or bust for Liverpool’s season: “I think a lot of people only say it is rescued if you win the Champions League and everyone knows how difficult it is. But I think everyone who is in the Champions League has a chance to win it. In the beginning of the season we already wanted to play for everything what we could win and the Champions League was one of them and I don’t think that changed. So what we are going to do is give it our best and try to win it.”

Opinion piece penned yesterday looking at Klopp's links to the Germany job and why he won't be tempted with his Liverpool legacy very much in mind.

Tyler Adams: "Obviously, playing Liverpool is always tough and we respect them but we also need teams to respect us. We are going out there to give our all and get a result. The plan really is just to keep focusing game by game. That is what has kept us humble and successful."

Tyler Adams

Julian Nagelsmann: “I feel for Liverpool and Jurgen especially when you are used to being successful and everything which comes into it with the emotions, the title, and then there is a period that is hard to come through but the players and coach are too good and they will get out of it. This is a difficult phase for the team but they are still a world-class team, it is one of the top world-class coaches."

Klopp: "I am happy to have this opportunity. We have momentum in the Champions League. They (Leipzig) have a different momentum as they won the last four, but previous results don't impact this game."
