Origi finds a yard of space on the left side of the box. He fakes to shoot with one foot and then lets fly with his left, but the powerful strike is too close to Maignan.

That was very sloppy from Liverpool's point of view. The low in-swinging corner wasn't dealt with at the near post and the fact the ball somehow found its way through surprised Alisson.
Milan don't care, of course. As it stands, they would claim second spot.

GOAL! Tomori pounces to fire home from close range after Alisson could only parry a low corner from the right into his path.

Poor play from Zlatan. He's fed on the right and has a chance to pull the trigger just inside the Liverpool area. He delays and Konate is able to come across and block.

Oxlade Chamberlain has a pop from distance but Tomori is well placed to make a fine block.

Theo Hernández races after a ball into the left channel that just evades the leap of Williams. It's a dangerous situation but Phillips comes charging across to slide the ball to safety in typically no frills fashion.

Both sides have had some good possession and a few semi-dangerous moments in the attacking third without creating anything of note so far.

There have been some eye-catching touches already. Salah's lovely foot work on the left didn't quite lead to anything while Tsimikas produced a tidy nutmeg on the left to get out of trouble.
Zlatan gets in on the act too with a delicious no-look pass in from the left side that almost help unlock Liverpool's defence.

LFC IN ITALY: The Reds have won four of 14 visits to Italy, drawing three and losing seven. The four victories came at Roma (2-0) in 2001, Inter at the San Siro (1-0) in 2008, Udinese (1-0) in 2012 and last season Liverpool won 5-0 at Atalanta. That 5-0 success is the biggest by an English team away to Italian opposition in European competition.

Messias whips a free kick from the left into the area but Tomori's long-range header is easy enough for Alisson to claim.

Kessie looks to release Krunic with a first-time pass from Tsimikas' weak clearance. It's a good idea but the through ball has too much zip on it and Alisson flies off his line to gather.

UEFA STAT: AC Milan will be looking for their first victory against an English side in European competition since February 2012, when they won 4-0 against Arsenal in the UEFA Champions League Round of 16. The Rossoneri are winless in their last six clashes with English opposition, losing five of those games (D1).

Williams tries to latch on to Salah's pass inside from the right but can't get enough purchase on the 25-yard strike to worry Mike Maignan.

H2H: Surprisingly, this is only the fourth meeting between the sides in Europe. Liverpool won the 2005 Champions League final but lost it in 2007.
The Reds also won the home clash in this group this season by a 3-2 scoreline.
