69'

Close! Szoboszali escapes the attention of Fernandinho and shoots from 20 yards. And I tell you what, it's not far over the bar.

68'

It has been a cracking night's entertainment and RB Leipzig have more than played their part tonight. Angelino has a shot against his former club but Cancelo makes the block.

65'

Goal ruled out! Another great delivery from Cancelo find Torres in behind. He rounds the goalkeeper and slots it home - but the linesman cuts his celebrations short... he's offside. VAR agrees.

64'

Cancelo lifts a delightful pass over the top but Gundogan can't quite get it under control and the onrushing Gulacsi can smother it.

62'

Fernandinho has taken the armband from Dias and wins City a free-kick on the halfway line. The Brazilian will look to slow things down after a frenetic start to the second half.

55'

GOAL! Manchester City 4-2 RB Leipzig (Jack Grealish): Grealish scores on his Champions League debut! The £100m man collects the ball on the left and carves inside, dropping a shoulder to create the space for a shot before curling it into the far corner.

53'

De Bruyne tripping over the referee was a bizarre incident and if it doesn't happen RB Leipzig likely don't score. Still, City need to defend better than they have been tonight.

  • Christopher Nkunku

45'

Penalty to City! De Bruyne's cross finds Torres and his header takes a deflection off Klostermann. Now did that hit the defender's arm? VAR is going to have a look... the referee has a look at the pitchside monitor... and points to the spot!

38'

There's a foul in midfield but the referee allows RB Leipzig to play advantage and a lovely ball releases Angelino down the left flank. He looks up and rolls a dangerous across into the box and Ake does well to turn it behind.

35'

Goal ruled out! Silva gets in behind City's high-line and although Ederson saves his first attempt, the Portuguese striker sticks away the rebound - but it's not going to count. The linesman flag is raised very little but replays show he was a mile off.

33'

Marsch's decision to stick with a back-four looks to have backfired. RB Leipzig have already conceded a bucket load of goals this season playing this system and City look like they could score a few more tonight.

30'

Half an hour on the clock and City are in complete control. What looked a tricky match on paper has been very simple on grass.

26'

Close! De Bruyne is back on set-piece taking duties as City win a free-kick. He fizzes a teasing ball to the back post but Ake can't quite make the connection despite looking favourite to apply the finish.

23'

Nukunu gets in behind City's defence but drags his shot wide. It wouldn't have counted as too was offside.

22'

City win a corner, and again Grealish takes. This time he plays it short for De Bruyne but strays into an offside position as he receives the return pass.

20'

Mahrez comes inside and is looking for the far corner with a curling shot, it takes a big deflection and goes behind. However, somehow the officials miss that and signal for a goal-kick!

  • Nathan Aké

Mahrez carves in off the left and delivers a beautifully weighted cross to the back post, searching for Grealish. Mukiele, however, makes the intervention at the cost of a corner.

15'

City fail to clear their lines convincingly from a free-kick, the loose ball sits up kindly for Olmo who thrashes a shot well over the bar. This has been a decent start from RB Leipzig.

12'

A scare at the back for RB Leipzig. Grealish releases Torres who goes down inside the penalty area under pressure from Adams, prompting claims for a spot-kick. However, he was in an offside position and that is potentially a let-off for the visitors.

10'

Spearheading RB Leipzig's attack, Silva has the potential to cause City problems tonight, but the Portuguese striker is caught napping by the linesman who raises his offside flag as soon as he receives it.

9'

An early goal in tonight's other big game as Liverpool take the lead over AC Milan through Trent Alexander Arnold.

7'

A lovely diagonal ball is brought down on the chest by Grealish, but his cross is blocked. City keep a hold of possession but are forced backwards.

6'

A first glimpse of De Bruyne but his cross to the near post from the right channel is easily cut out. City haven't got going just yet.

3'

With Laporte missing through injury, and John Stones carrying a knock, it's a big test for Nathan Ake, who hasn't exactly excelled in Manchester since his move from Bournemouth.

2'

RB Leipzig are known for their gung-ho style and waste little time in forging their first attack, with Angelino digging out a cross from the left. Ake gets there before Nkunku, who looks hurt following the contact.

1'

Kick-off! Both sides take the knee to applause before Leipzig get us underway in Manchester!

19:55

Right, the players are making their way out onto the pitch, and after the famous Champions League anthem, we'll be ready for action.

19:50

Ten minutes until kick-off! Can City make a winning start in their pursuit of Champions League glory?

19:45

Did you know? This will be the first meeting between Manchester City and RB Leipzig in European competition, while Pep Guardiola's side won all four of their games against German opponents in the UEFA Champions League last season (two wins against both Borussia Dortmund and Borussia Monchengladbach).

19:40

£100m signing Jack Grealish makes his debut in UEFA European club football tonight - at the age of 26. "Hopefully the first of many," Pep tells BT Sport.

Jack Grealish of Manchester City celebrates after scoring their side's second goal during the Premier League match between Manchester City and Norwich City at Etihad Stadium on August 21, 2021 in Manchester, England.
19:35

RB Leipzig full-back Angelino will return to the Etihad tonight with a point to prove after a recent unsuccessful spell in Manchester. "It's a weird feeling [being back]," he said. "I never thought I would play with a different shirt in this stadium but I'm really happy to be back and we play against one of the best teams in the world. We know it will be a tough night. We can't allow any silly mistakes if we want to get a result. We are ready and focused on this."

19:30

City may have lost in the Champions League final last term but Pep stresses the season was still a success. He said: "People can say Man City was a failure but it was an incredible achievement last season playing really well in many of the games and losing well against a big contender. Now we start a new one and every team wants to win. We're going to try but I won't tell you which team is going to win because I don't know it."

19:25

While it has been business as usual for City under Pep at the start of the season, life has been more complicated for RB Leipzig boss Jesse Marsch. The successor to Julian Nagelsmann has had a tough start, losing three of his first four league games.

19:20

Opta stat: Pep Guardiola will take charge of his 300th game for Manchester City this evening (218 wins), while this is also the 750th game of his managerial career (546 wins).

19:15

Former City defender Angelino starts at full-back for the visitors. Jesse Marsh makes three changes to his side that lost to Bayern Munich on Saturday as Lukas Klostermann replaces Mohamed Simakan in defence, Tyler Adams comes in for Kevin Kampl in midfield and Emil Forsberg takes the place of Dominik Szoboszlai in in attack.

19:10

Kevin De Bruyne makes his first start of the season for Manchester City. He is one of four changes to the side that defeated Leicester, with Nathan Ake, Oleksandr Zinchenko and Riyad Mahrez also coming in. Kyle Walker, Gabriel Jesus and Ilkay Gundogan are on the bench, while Aymeric Laporte drops out completely.

19:05
