City have never won the Champions League and Pep Guardiola has not lifted the trophy since he left Barcelona more than a decade ago, but his side will go into the second leg full of confidence after taking a 3-0 lead in the first leg last week.
Bayern, who previously had eight wins from eight games in the competition, will be determined to find a way back into the tie.
Despite conceding three goals in the first leg, Bayern boss Thomas Tuchel said he "fell in love" with his team after the defeat.
He said: "Of course, the result is bitter for us. I fell in love with my team a little today, the way they performed. Even if it sounds strange, that was a lot of fun."
Guardiola, who used to manage Bayern, said his side have to be wary of the Bundesliga champions' "mentality".
He said: "I lived in Munich for three years, I know the Bayern mentality and quality they have. Still a strong game to do.”

Guardiola: Sane-Mane bust-up may galvanise Bayern
Guardiola says the bust-up between Sadio Mane and Leroy Sane after Bayern's heavy defeat to City last week could galvanise the Bundesliga club as they try to mount a comeback in front of their home fans on Wednesday.
Mane was dropped and fined after reportedly punching his team-mate in the face. Mane's anger was reported to be triggered by a moment in the 83rd minute of the first leg at the Etihad Stadium.
Sane was seemingly unhappy with Mane because he did not offer himself as a passing option, instead waiting for a through ball. As a result, both players began a verbal argument on the pitch which then led to a physical confrontation in the dressing room.
On Friday, Tuchel said the dispute had been "settled" and Guardiola says a team can become more united after a moment of conflict.
"Sometimes you need conflict to make the team more together, I am pretty sure of that," he said.
"It's not a weak point, it will be a strong point against us. I know this club perfectly, I can imagine the situation against City; we play there, the players will do their best.
"Bayern will do their best on Wednesday but I am pretty sure what happened there.
"If it was the opposite and we had lost 3-0 and didn't win today and there was some conflict, the team would say it is a final for us and we know exactly what we have to do and we will do it."
