Surman signs Saints deal

Surman, 20, burst onto the scene last season and helped Saints to the semi-finals of the play-offs, scoring an outstanding goal in the first leg at home against Derby County.

"I'm really chuffed," he told the south coast club's website. "It didn't take long to negotiate as I was happy to sign here.

"I've always supported the club and played in the first team for a couple of seasons now, so I had no hesitation in signing a new contract."

South African Surman also endeared himself to the St Mary's crowd with a hat-trick against Barnsley earlier in the season.
