Leeds United have confirmed pioneering Argentine Marcelo Bielsa as their new manager on a two-year deal.
Bielsa, once the mentor of Pep Guardiola and Mauricio Pochettino, is tasked with restoring the Whites to the Premier League after 14 years in the Football League.
The 62-year-old is renowned for a high-intensity 3-3-3-1 system – an attacking formation that has produced mixed results during a career that includes stints at Argentina and Chile national teams, plus Athletic Bilbao and Marseille.
"It has always been my ambition to work in England," Bielsa told the club's official website.
"I have had several opportunities to do so during my career, however I have always felt it was important to wait for the right project to come along and so when a club with Leeds United’s history made me an offer, it was impossible to turn down,” he told the club’s website.
He was sacked by Lille in December after a run of three wins in 13 games.
