Dele Alli withdraws from England squad with injury

Dele Alli has withdrawn from the England squad after picking up a minor muscle strain during Saturday’s 2-1 defeat to Spain.

The Tottenham midfielder will return to his club for further treatment, with no player coming in to replace Alli for Tuesday’s friendly against Switzerland.

Alli will hope to recover in time for Tottenham’s Premier League clash against Liverpool at Wembley on Saturday.

His withdrawal comes after Leicester duo Demarai Gray and Ben Chilwell joined up with England’s squad ahead of the Switzerland friendly at the King Power Stadium.

The pair had been part of the Under-21s setup, but will look to make their senior debuts at their home stadium on Tuesday.
