Thomas Hitzlsperger struck twice to lead VfB Stuttgart into the quarter-finals of the German Cup with a 4-1 victory away to VfL Bochum.
Mario Gomez put Stuttgart ahead in the 34th minute before German international Hitzlsperger made the game safe with his two goals early in the second half.
Tommy Bechmann pulled one back for Bochum with five minutes to go but Cacau restored the three-goal advantage when he struck in the final minute.
Hertha Berlin joined Stuttgart in the last eight with an equally comfortable 3-0 win away to VfL Osnabrueck, Christian Gimenez getting two of the goals.
But Nuremberg and Eintracht Frankfurt struggled before progressing against second division opposition.
Nuremberg overcamr Unterhaching 2-1 on penalties after a goalless draw while Frankfurt scored twice in extra-time to sink Cologne 3-1.
