Borussia Dortmund have taken up the option to buy striker Paco Alcacer on a permanent deal from Barcelona, the Catalan club have announced.
Dortmund will pay an initial 23 million euros (£20m) for the Spain international, who has scored 13 goals for the Bundesliga leaders since joining on loan last summer.
Barcelona said in a statement: “Borussia Dortmund has taken advantage of the permanent transfer option in the agreement with Barcelona reached last August for the player Paco Alcacer.
“The German club will pay 23 million euros and five million more in variables. Barca will take five per cent of any future sale of the player by Borussia Dortmund to a third party. ”
The 25-year-old joined Barca from Valencia in 2016 and scored 15 goals in 50 appearances for the club, helping them win LaLiga, the Copa del Rey twice and Spanish Super Cup.
Dortmund paid Barca two million euros to sign Alcacer on loan in August and he enjoyed a remarkable start to life in Germany, scoring eight goals in his first five appearances for the club.
