Russia began their Euro 2008 preparations in style by crushing Kazakhstan 6-0 in a Moscow friendly.

Striker Pavel Pogrebnyak put the home team ahead with a 26th-minute penalty and winger Vladimir Bystrov added a second just before the interval.

Konstantin Zyryanov, Pogrebnyak's Zenit St Petersburg team mate, made it 3-0 on the hour before Diniyar Bilyalitdinov, Dmitry Torbinsky and Dmitry Sychev added three more in the final five minutes against an experimental Kazakh side.

In was the first of three friendlies for the Russians before the start of the Euro 2008 finals on June 7. They are in Group D with European champions Greece, Spain and Sweden.
